Free statistics calculators, every step shown

About Stats Workbench

Last updated 2026-10-13

Stats Workbench is a free set of statistics calculators for analysts, researchers, students and anyone who has to check a number before it goes into a report. Each page does one job — a standard deviation, a t test, a regression, a sample size — and works straight away: there is no account and nothing to install.

Every calculator shows how the answer was reached: the formula, your numbers put into it, and the intermediate sums. You can copy the result, share a link that reopens the calculator with the same data, or print the result with its steps.

How it works

  • Everything runs in your browser. What you type or choose stays on your device; nothing is uploaded.
  • Results are computed, not typed in. The worked examples on each page are produced by the same code the calculator runs.
  • Checked against reference software. Each calculator has automated tests whose expected values come from SciPy, statsmodels or published worked examples (such as the NIST/SEMATECH e-Handbook of Statistical Methods), not from our own code.
  • Methods are named. Where statisticians use different conventions (sample or population standard deviation, quartile methods, Welch or pooled t test), the page says which one it uses and usually lets you switch.
  • Third-party material used on the site is listed on the credits page.
